Baby Update

Well I'm 10 weeks now, actually about half way through the 10th week. All in all, I have no real symptoms, a few food aversion, and some exhaustion, but I tend to blame most of the exhaustion on trying to keep up with Desmond. What little morning sickness I have had has long since passed, not that I had much, I think I had more with Desmond, and that is saying a lot, since I had one true episode with him.

I seriously would doubt I was pregnant if I hadn't seen the baby's heart beating and such. It has been fairly stress free so far which is really nice. My next appointment isn't till September 8th. It will be nice to go in and be checked out and hear the heartbeat.

No real complaints at this point though, the pregnancy is going fairly well and it is kind of weird to think I'm almost through the first trimester already, hopefully I will get some energy back when I hit second trimester. Just keeping everyone updated, no real news on the baby front though. I'm sure there'll be some more news come October and the 20 weeks ultrasound.

Ultrasound for the bean

We had my first midwife appointment for the new bean yesterday. It included an ultrasound appointment. The appointment went well over all. It was hard to see the bean, though I will upload the ultrasound pictures eventually. We did see the heartbeat it is at 157 which is great. The fetal pole was measuring a week smaller then where I thought it should have been, but my dates could have been off. My due date was moved to March 16th from the 10th, which I am fine with. I actually prefer a slightly later date, since I am going to try a VBAC and having more time before the bean is due is good, since then I am likely to get less pressure about the baby being late, etc.

After the ultrasound we met with the midwife, well one of them. This is a new one to the practice, she wasn't there two years ago when I was there with Desmond. I like her a lot, which is nice. The midwife that helped deliver Desmond is no longer there, which is a bit disappointing, she apparently got married and moved to Colorado. Anyways the midwife went over my history and her first question was, "Are you planning on a VBAC?", which is a nice question to be asked. I told her I was and apparently I can stay with the midwife half of the practice for VBACs, which is nice, I prefer a midwife to an OB when possible.

All in all it was a good appointment, there wasn't a problem with me going to India at 20ish weeks, and I go back for my next appointment in 6 weeks.

Desmond's One Year Pictures

On Sunday we went to the photo place and got Desmond's one year photos done. We've been going there since he was a newborn. Apparently there has been a recent management change and our photographer (yes we had a photographer who always took his pictures) is gone. We like his one year pictures, but are thinking that for his 18 months photos we might try the other place in the mall, not sure yet, but I think we likely will.

Anyways here are Desmond's one year pictures the Sunday before he turns 1 (he is 1 this Saturday eek!).

Standing from sitting

The last step Desmond really needed to be an independent walker was the ability to get up from the middle of the floor rather then having to crawl over to something to pull himself up. He has officially hit that milestone now, he can get up to standing from the middle of the floor. We figured he would figure it out soon since he's been able to bend down and pick something up for awhile now. It seems to have clicked though and he's been doing it all morning/afternoon now.

In other cute Desmond stuff, he brings me a clean diaper when he wants to be changed about 80% of the time now, which is nice.

Close ups of an 11 month old's face

Here are a couple of close up pictures I took of Desmond while we were out today. I think they came out nice. He looks like such a little toddler now instead of a baby. Where has time gone, he'll be 1 in 2 weeks (eek!).

Clap Clap Clap

Here are a couple of cute pictures of Desmond clapping while we were at the soccer fields.

This is my favorite picture of him clapping, it is just a great picture.

Random pictures from the fields

Here are a couple of pictures from the soccer fields. One of them is Desmond's on my back in a carrier (which is how we brought him to the fields). The other three are him sitting in the fields.

Walking on the fields

Here are a couple of pictures of Desmond walking on the soccer fields. He needs help because he isn't use to his new shoes yet (you can see them in the pictures), he also isn't quite sure of the walking on the ground thing yet either. He had fun walking with me and Dan though.

He is losing his shoe in this picture, right after it was taken he kept walking and the shoe stayed behind.

Desmond and Yogurt

Since Desmond has an ear infection he's on antibiotics. Since I don't want him to get a yeast rash or other nasties we've been giving him a probiotic and yogurt every evening at dinner. He really enjoys playing with it and even eats a bit I think. He tends to get a bath after dinner now as well, since he is not a neat eater!

Desmond with an Easter Basket

We went to visit my in-laws yesterday since Desmond hasn't seen them since before we left for Atlanta. We all had a nice time visiting. They had gotten an Easter Basket for Desmond so here are a couple of the pictures I took of him with it.

Posted by tabrizia at 08:37 PM

Pictures from Atlanta

Desmond and I went to Atlanta March 9th - 18th. It was fun, we enjoyed spending time with my parents and siblings. He got to see all his Aunts and Uncles which was nice. Anyways here are a couple of the pictures I took while there, I have a video too, but I need to upload it still.

First two are him standing and walking at my parent's house on different days:

Next is him eating spinach ravioli at my aunt and uncle's lake house where we stayed since my parent's is under renovation still.

Next is him playing with an xylophone which he played with on his play date with another little baby a month older then him, who is the grand daughter of friend's of my parent's at the lake.

Last are a couple of pictures of him on the boat with my Mom and sleeping.

Another First!

We have a first sentence. Desmond said "Hi Dog." about 30 minutes ago. He's been talking up a storm tonight, to bad I only understand about half of what he says.

Baby Firsts!

We had some new firsts this weekend. Desmond has his first ear infection poor baby, so we are giving him antibiotics for it. They are helping and he feels much better now 1 day after starting them.

In other firsts he has real shoes now. He had Pedipeds for his naming in November and for Christmas, but they weren't outdoor shoes really. He now has his first pair of Stride rite sneakers. He is so cute in them, though he isn't sure on the walking in them yet. He is a size 5 extra wide right now. In related news, dang shoes for toddlers are expensive!

More Desmond Pictures

Since I was grabbing the car seat pictures off the camera I uploaded some other pictures as well. So here are a bunch more Desmond pictures.

So Monday I turned around and found the munckin climbing chairs. Of course being a good mother I took pictures, before telling him not to do that.

Later that evening, Dan offered me a bite of his chocolate chip cookie, Desmond decided he would like some too and grabbed a piece before DH or I could react. So here is chocolate face.

Tuesday I look and see Desmond stuck between the wall and the entertainment center, he is just small enough to fit in there, but apparently he can't always get out. So I take some pictures and the rescue the poor baby. Yes I'm a mean mother.

Last night Desmond won't go to sleep, so Dan took him downstairs where he promptly fell asleep sitting up. I don't quite understand how he can sleep like this, but he seems to like it.

New Carseat

So we upgraded Desmond's car seat this evening. This week the brand that we wanted to upgrade him to held their twice annual sale. Since he likely won't last in his infant seat till September we decided to go ahead and upgrade him now. I ordered the seat on Tuesday around 10pm and it arrived this afternoon. Basically we got overnight shipping for free, yay!

Anyways here are some pictures of Desmond playing and trying out his new car seat.

First off the car seat in its box.

Desmond thought it made a nice climb toy.

Tasty straps apparently

Here is Desmond strapped in, we were checking to see if we needed to move it up to the second level for the straps, we didn't he fits quite well in the lowest setting.

Here it is installed in the car.

I'll try to get up a picture or two of him in the carseat in the car once we've put him in it.

Some random pictures

The rest of the pictures are sort of a random collection. There is one of his face, which is just silly looking, a couple of him climbing up my scrapbooking boxes (which have since been moved), one of him sleeping, and one of him very very upset (I am mean I took a picture before comforting him).

He is a little monkey and will climb anything that he can find that will hold him. It has led to finding him in some interesting positions so far, and I am sure it will only get worse!

He will just collapse on occasion when he has worn himself down and feels like a nap, since he is happy there we normally just let him sleep where he has fallen.

See very unhappy baby. To be fair he has just hit the temper tantrum stage, so anything can upset him quickly. Fortunately it is fairly easy to make him all smiles again as well.

Posted by tabrizia at 04:53 PM

Gaming Chair

We also have a chair (well two) that we bought from Target, that is fairly low to the ground that Dan or I will sit on when playing the Xbox360 or Wii. Desmond likes to climb on it too now, and sit in it.

Posted by tabrizia at 04:51 PM

Dan's Chair

One of Desmond's favorite places is Dan's chair, he loves to try to climb up and play with his computer. Sometimes he is more successful then others. Here are a bunch of pictures of him in the chair or on top of the chair...

Walking Pictures

So I've uploaded some pictures we've taken in the past week or so, and figured I should share. First off is pictures of baby boy walking! He tends to walk with his hands above his head for some reason. I assume it is balance, but who knows. He can take about 10 to 12 steps at a time now, and has started working on his running as well, eek.

He is walking, walking, walking

I think we can officially call Desmond a walker. He always starts out walking now, and goes up to 8 or 9 steps before falling. He only starts out crawling if he is somewhere without something for him to use to stand. He is really enjoying his new skill though. He was walking all over last night.

Desmond Walking and K-line

Desmond walking on video. We finally got the video camera set up at the right time to catch him walking. He only does 2 to 5 steps at a time, but he is pretty good at it. Here is one of his attempts last night, K is there to "help" too. It is fairly long and not edited, I couldn't get the edited version to work, so you get the full video in all its glory.

This one is a bit pixelated for the first 3 or 4 seconds too, no clue, guess I needed black space at the front.

Desmond climbing

I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I would try to get this video up. It is of Desmond climbing up the ottoman to get to the chair and to play with Dan's computer. He is fast, which is why the ottoman is no longer there.

The first few second are really pixelated, I have no clue why, they aren't in the real video.

February Pictures

I don't have many yet, but here are a few pictures from this month.

The first one is him eating lasagna, he really enjoyed it, as did puppy.

The next two are of him taking off the cushion on the ottoman so he can climb up onto the chair or sofa. I promise to post the video soon.

I just love this picture of him. It's a Desmond sandwich!

More Pictures from January

Here are some more January pictures, these are ones either Dan or I took.

I love him in this outfit, even if he does not look happy at the moment:

He took the glass out of the end table by trying to stand up in it. So we put away the glass and he now uses the end table as his personal stand. Here is a close up of him standing in it:

He's eating a tamale here from Cheese Cake factory, so far he's liked all the foods he's tried.

He likes to steal my wireless keyboard and play with it, by putting it on my chair or banging it around:

And the last January picture is Desmond taking down the baby gate. He looks so pleased with himself:

Updating

Meant to update yesterday and never got around to it, and since Andrea prodded me I'll post now!

Desmond turned 10 months old yesterday, he is getting so big. I can't believe he is already 10 months old. Where has my baby gone? I am starting to figure out what to do for his first birthday, eek, my baby is turning 1 soon!

Desmond has decided he loves to climb, which makes life fun. We've had to move the ottoman so that he isn't constantly climbing up onto the sofa or chair (I'll post a video when I can get it to work for more then just mac). He is fast.

He still isn't walking, but is close, if he doesn't realize he's not holding on, he can stand and take steps easily, once he figures out there is no support though, he drops on his butt. I figure he'll figure out walking any day now, but I've been figuring that for a month and he still hasn't, so who knows.

I have a couple of pictures to post, some for his photo shoot last month and a couple of him bringing down the baby gate, that was fun, not!

Desmond is a big boy!

We went to Desmond's well baby visit today, he is doing well. He has grown 2 inches in the past 3 months and gained 2 and a half pounds. Here is a comparison of him from birth to today. He is really growing fast, only 3 more months till he is one!

At birth he was 7 pounds 14 ounces and 20 3/4 inches
At one months he was 11 pounds and 23 inches
At two months he was 14 pounds and 24 1/2 inches
At four months he was 17 pounds 13 ounces and 26 1/2 inches
At 6 months he was 19 pounds 13 ounces and 27 inches
At 9 months he is 22 pounds 3 ounces and 29 inches

Posted by tabrizia at 10:39 PM

Step!

He just took a step without any support or anything near him. He has taken a step before but it was between the ottoman and the sofa so he was pretty well protected and able to grab on. He just took a step in the middle of the floor to me! Yay Desmond now I just need to catch it on film.

Walking? Steps? No support? Eek!

Last night Desmond took a step without support! He let go of the sofa to take a step and grab onto Dan. He did it twice. Eek! It seems that my baby boy is going to be walking before long, which is a really scary thought! He is just growing so fast.

Climbing

Desmond's favorite thing to do now is climb. he loves climbing up onto the couch at night. He has to use Daddy's leg as a step to get up though because it is just a bit too high for him.

Here are the pictures:

Oh hi Daddy how are you?

Must keep climbing!

I think that I'll play with the laptop now I'm up here

Sleeping baby

Dan just poked me to look at the baby. He apparently wore himself out. In the first picture you can see part of his favorite toy behind him, the Wii Nunchuck. I know he is only wearing one sock, but he is happy like that. I have no clue where the fish came from in the third picture, it was apparently the angle of that picture that lets you see it and not in the others, but it amuses us that it just suddenly appeared in the pictures. And yes I was a nice Mommy and put a blanket over him before the third picture.

Talking

So Desmond's first word is: Hi, he has been saying it on and off for a week or two, but I wasn't really sure if I was hearing him right. However, he definitely said it yesterday at the right time, and others heard him. So Desmond can say hi, when he feels like it. He is also babbling Dada, but he doesn't say it about Dan yet, no Mama yet at all, but I'm sure that will be soon.

Crawling, Climbing, Crusing, Teeth!

So Desmond now has his two front teeth just in time for Christmas, which means he has 6 teeth now. He's been a bit fussy the past few days as the teeth came in, but hopefully he'll be better now they have broken the skin.

He is crawling like a champ and crusing as well. He can stand alone for about 5 seconds now, so I have a feeling real walking may not be that far off. Oh and he can climb, his favorite thing to do in the evenings now is use Daddy's leg to climb up on the sofa and then cruise around there pulling down whatever he finds. He can also climb stairs, he hasn't gotten to do it at home yet, but he climbed up the stairs at my inlaws quite fast when we were there on Sunday. He is a very talented baby.

He's also babbling a lot, so I figure he'll say his first word soon, no clue what it will be yet though. He is getting so big, he is almost a toddler now, not a baby and he will turn 1 in less then 4 months eek! Time goes really fast.

Santa!

I went out yesterday with my Mother in law and we took Desmond to see Santa. He had fun and we got a couple of cute pictures (which I'll upload and share if I get around to it). It was nice going out with my Mother in Law.

I also finished the last of my holiday shopping, I found a decent gift for my Father in Law, which is good since the gift we did have was a bit lame. My mother in law also picked up a few things including a toy for Desmond.

All in all it was a nice day.

So on Wednesday it snowed. We got around 3 inches, maybe more. It was Desmond's first real snow, it actually snowed the day after he was born, but we were both in the hospital so I don't really count that one.

Anyways we went out and played in the snow for a bit and I got some cute baby in the snow pictures So enjoy pictures of the cute baby.

6 month appointment

We just got back from Desmond's 6 month doctor's appointment. He is doing well, he didn't grow as much between 4 and 6 months as he has been before that point. We are pretty sure he actually has lost weight since Disney, since he is so active now. Anyways now for the stats:

Weight: 19 pounds 13 ounces (85%)
Height: 27 inches (75%)
Head Circumference: 45cm (85%)

We have crawling!

He did it! He has been scootching for awhile, remember the pictures from here? The past week or so he has been getting on his hands and knees and rocking trying to figure out how to go forward.

Last night he was really close to pulling it off. Today he did it, about an hour ago so right around 12:30 he moved forward on his hands and knees. He didn't go far, but he's got it. Now we really need to babyproof everything, since I am sure he'll get faster and better at it really quickly.

I'll try to get a video of it or pictures up soon, when I can actually catch him doing it.

Website and such

I finally got around to updating my actual website. It hadn't been updated in years so I figured it was time. Anyways for anyone interested it is just a collection of Desmond pictures and you can find it here.

In other news, we had Gymboree today, it was fun. There were 5 new babies there, and some of them were really babies, like 5 and 7 weeks old. You forget really fast how small newborns really are. They were so cute. The three of us that are normally in the class all decided to move up to level 2. It seemed like it was time, the stuff we did today was definitely more directed towards slightly smaller babies then any of us had. So we're all going to the Thursday class. It should be fun, at a guess there isn't a huge difference between level 1 and level 2 Gymboree, but we'll see. I also signed up for Baby Signs which is starting in October, he'll have just turned 6 months when the class starts so it should be perfect timing to start that.

Other then that not much else going on here, I'm thinking of restarting learning Latin again.

Aquarium and other stuff

So it's been a bit busy here the past few weeks. Shocking I know. Dan just switched companies today and is now working for his new company. Nothing much changed in his actual work environment since he is still doing the same job just new company in charge.

This weekend we went out and saw my inlaws, my father in law just had back surgery so we went to their house to visit. Their fridge apparently died and they aren't planning on getting a new one until my father in law can go out looking with my mother in law. I personally would have problems not having a fridge for 2 weeks, but whatever works for them. My father in law is doing well and seems to be recovering well. They both loved playing with Desmond. We had a nice time there.

We went to a baby wearing expo before we went to their house, it was nice. We tried on a carrier I'm interested in. It fits well, but doesn't seem like a big change from our Mei Tei so we decided to wait before buying it. We may get one later on though.

Sunday we ran a bunch of errands. We are looking for a chair for Desmond to sit in, in the living room. We used his bouncer, but he has outgrown it and it doesn't look safe anymore. So we're looking for something to replace it with. Unfortuantely there aren't many options. We found one, but the only places that sells them are in England and Europe, which makes shipping fairly expensive, and we would like to see it before we buy it. Oh well, we'll probably waffle long enough that he is sitting before we do anything and just get him a toddler sized arm chair.

Today Desmond and I went to the Aquarium and met some nice Moms and children from our baby wearing group. It was fun. We got there late, but found them after the dolphin show anyways, so it worked out. We had fun and went out to lunch afterwards before heading home. It was a fun day, even if I did have to drive in Baltimore.

Other then that not much else going on this week at least. Which is nice, we have Gymboree on Wednesday but nothing else till this weekend when we go visit my inlaws again for their labor day cookout. Though atty will be doing the grilling this year instead of my father in law, Back surgery and all.

If you want to catch up for the past few weeks, check the extended entry.

The Thursday after Desmond's appointment, Dan and I went out to dinner with friends, while the 15 year old daughter of another friend babysat Desmond. Apparently Desmond decided to cry for the whole 3 hours we were gone, poor baby sitter and poor Des. That Friday we went to the Aquarium with said 15 year old. It was fun, Desmond liked it. We are getting a lot of use out of that membership in our first month having it, which is good. That Saturday we went to the National Zoo. It was nice, Desmond was awake for a different part of it and saw some animals including all three Pandas. We returned said 15 year old to the friend's house she was staying at late Saturday evening, because we got a later start then planned when going to the zoo.

Sunday we went to the hospital to see my father in law. He was doing decently and loved seeing Desmond. Other then that the rest of the past week was quiet. My Grandmother is doing decently with her new hip, we need to send flowers still, as soon as I get a location for where she is from my Mom.

That is about it though, see pretty boring.

Desmond growth updates

Okay so Desmond had his 4 month appointment today and is doing well.

At birth he was 7 pounds 14 ounces and 20 3/4 inches
At one months he was 11 pounds and 23 inches
At two months he was 14 pounds and 24 1/2 inches
At four months he is 17 pounds 13 ounces and 26 1/2 inches

He is in the 90% for weight and 90 - 95% for height. He is a big baby boy, he is closer to the size of a 7 or 8 month old then a 4 month old. He is extremely alert as well and did great on the baby assessment page, he has basically filled it out with all yeses except feeding himself, since he doesn't get food yet, sitting on his own (though he is really close) and standing holding onto something other then Mommy or Daddy.

Go Desmond!

*Edit* I was close on the weight, since 18ish would cover 17 pounds 13 ounces and I was a bit short on the height, I really didn't think we was quite that tall.

Desmond's new trick

So Desmond has a new trick that he enjoys doing. During tummy time he moves out of the boppy and end up on his back. It is actually fairly impressive. So I've included pictures from Tuesday and Wednesday, though the Tuesday ones don't have him on his back because I picked him up before that since he was upset.

Step 1 in the boppy for tummy time:

Step 2: move back till I am no longer in the boppy:

Step 3: End up on my back or in the case my tummy:

The National Zoo

So on Saturday we decided to either go to the National Zoo or Baltimore Aquarium. The day was suppose to be so nice (high of 83) that we decided the Zoo was a good plan. We figured it would be slightly less crowded then normal thanks to Harry Potter 7. So we headed into the city to see the animals. It was a lot of fun, it was crowded, but not horribly and the weather was nice, it got a little warmer then 83 (up to about 85 I think), but it was still nice weather to see the animals in. Desmond slept through the first two hours we were there. He was awake for the last hour and a half or so, and we showed him some of the animals, like the elephant, hippo, Cheetah, and Great Panda. He seemed to have fun and both Dan and I enjoyed the visit. We'll have to go back when Desmond is a bit more interactive so he can actually know what he is see.

That being said I took a bunch of pictures so here are a few.

The fourth and such

We went to my parent's lake house for the 4th. It was nice, Desmond loved the fireworks on the boat. I erm forgot my camera so no pictures, oops.

I got to look at houses with my parent's while I was there, they are going to buy their own house rather then sharing with my aunt and uncle. Because both my parents and aunt and uncle plan to retire to the lake house. So they want their own. We looked, we discussed. We discussed and discussed and my parents came to a decision and put in an offer. So we'll see how it ends up. I like the house that they are probably going to end up with though it only has two guest bedrooms.

Overall, it was a nice week with my family at the lake and even Dan seemed to enjoy himself some. We also got Desmond's 3 month photos taken yesterday so I'll try to post a few of them later. Maybe update the blog header.

Desmond updates and the rest of us

Okay so I haven't been great about updating recently. I'll blame the baby, plus an extremely busy May. We've basically had something to do every weekend this month and won't slow down till June. Desmond has been great he is a wonderful baby.

I love his cloth diapers they are fairly easy to deal with, and the extra laundry isn't too bad.

He is really alert now at 6 weeks old and tends to be up for about 6 to 8 hours a day at this point in time. He is starting to show interest in toys which is nice. His eyes are still blue as well. He rarely cries which is really appreciated, he seems to cry when he is either hungry or needs a diaper change.

So far he has been to the Hindu temple and blessed, to a friends wedding, and to my cousin's graduation party. He has also been to a ton of restaurants and done really well there as well.

As for his growth he is up to about 12 pounds now and 23 inches (he was 11 pounds 23 inches at his month check up). He is a solid baby and really cute. We're still semi debating which shots we're starting with at his next appointment, I think we're just going to start with the DTaP and do the Prenever and Polio shots/spray (or whatever the Polio one is) at 3 months.

We're going to be taking the train up to NYC this weekend which should be interesting, we'll see how he does on the train and then on Monday he and I are flying down to Atlanta to spend the week with my parents. We're going to be going to the Aquarium one day, so he'll get to look at all the fishies and we're going to be at the lake house for a few days as well, we'll probably take him out on the boat if the weather is nice.

Other then that, K-line is getting use to the intruder, and Dan and I are doing fairly well. Not much else going on especially without Desmond, since he is so little so where we go he gets to come along.

Now for a couple of semi-recent pictures:

This was tummy time

It's a happy baby

Baby Pictures

Here is a link to the baby pictures i promised in the last post a week or so ago. I need to put new ones up since he has changed a lot in the past 18 days. However, I've been a bit lazy with the c-section and new baby and all.

In other news he is growing well and sleeping through the night at the moment, which is really nice. I'll try to update more later.

Desmond Kiran Singhal

Born April 5th at 2:30am. 7 pounds 14 ounces, 20 3/4 inches tall.

Born via emergency C-section, because he had his cord wrapped around his arm which was causing his heart beat to fluctuate. Went in Tuesday April 3rd at 6pm to start the induction, Started the pitocin (spelling) drip on Wednesday April 4th at 8:30am. Was fully dilated by 11pm April 4th and pushing by Midnight. Decided to go C-section after an hour and a half of pushing based on the heartbeat and suspected cord problem of some sort, and the OB/GYNs opinion.

He was born with APGARs of 8 and then 9, all is well, more info and pictures coming soon. Just got home from the hospital today.

Eviction Notice Given!

So the blob will be evicted on April 4th if he does not decide to come before then. Went to my midwife appointment today, and she checked things, still having contractions, a bit more ready, but not much. However, looking at my chart she saw they didn't want me to go to term with the blob because he is so big. Which makes me quite happy.

So she went to check to see when we could schedule an induction. Monday and Tuesday were both full in Labor and Delivery, but Wednesday they had room. So Wednesday April 4th the blob will be appearing, if he doesn't decide to come before then. I check in Tuesday night, and they start the induction drugs on Wednesday morning, and hopefully he arrives in short order after that.

It is so nice knowing we have a day when he will definitely be here by. I don't mind if he comes before then, but knowing he will be here by that day is just nice.

8 Days of Contractions Suck!

So last Friday I noticed I was having contractions every 3 to 5 minutes for a minute. Okay general knowledge says to call when that happens. So I did and got to go to Labor and Delivery, where it was determined, yes you are contracting, no nothing else is happening, bye. Sunday they were a bit worse and I could actually feel them and the baby was moving less then normal, so back in we went. Found I had an UTI, got 2 liters of fluid and antibiotics and sent home 8 hours later, yay or something.

Still contracting mind you. They didn't stop or get much worse, so Wednesday went to my Midwife appointment, still contracting, nothing else had changed so got a make your appointment for next week, bye. By this point in time contractions are getting really annoying, since it has been 6ish days without them stopping. Thursday shocking I was still contracting, and today yep, still contracting. Nothing really changing, but still contracting.

And there is nothing I can do about it. I am just hoping the blob decides he is ready to show up soon (today would be nice) so the dang contractions will stop.

Well it is one BIG Blob!

Had a measurement ultrasound today. Didn't get any pictures, should have asked, oh well. Anyways he is definitely a boy, no question at all about that. Oh and he is a big boy. At 36 and a half weeks he weighs 7 and a half pounds. Eek! and the general growth of babies the last month or so is half a pound every week, which means he could be over 9 pounds when he is born. That is really kind of scaring me. I'll get to have another ultrasound in about 2 weeks, so we can check his size again, since if he is still really big at 39 weeks, I'll probably end having to induce, which I really would prefer not to do.

Then again to be fair I would prefer to go to sleep and wake in the morning with a newborn next to me, rather then go through any labor. I still have this anti-drug thing going on, and I have a feeling from what I've heard if they do induce I am going to want an epidural, which isn't a happy idea, but I'll deal if it happens.

In other news he has a ton of hair can't tell if it is thick or thin, but there is a lot of it, which is kind of an odd thing you can see on an ultrasound. Anyways it appears I have a huge blob arriving soon with a lot of hair. Eek!

Bags packed for the hospital

So I meant to do this, this past weekend, but didn't end up doing so. Anyways my bags are now packed for the hospital, so I guess that means I am ready whenever the blob decides to appear, at least bags packed wise.

They are missing a few things, I need to make a mix cd or 3 of my various iTunes music for relaxation during labor (or some such thing). I also need to wash one more outfit for the blob to possibly come home in (okay so I over packed for him at the hospital, but baby clothes are soooo cute). I also need to charge the battery in my camera and the big camera so they won't run out of batteries once the blob arrives. No I am not taking pictures of his birth, ick eww. I am taking newborn pictures though since he'll be out then and cute (all babies are cute it is the law).

I think I'm mostly ready though, and packing the bag makes it even more real, since that means I am expecting him to arrive soon. Still holding out for him to arrive on his due date though since I just think it would be cool if he arrived on Easter since I was born on Easter.

More Baby Stuff

The blob is coming soon, hence all the blob related posts. I'm sure once he's here it won't get much better, sorry (well not really, it's my blog about my boring life so I can write about whatever I want too).

The crib and changing table arrived on Friday, yay! So now he has somewhere else to sleep (he had a co-sleeper and a pack and play already, he'll probably start in the co-sleeper (bassinet) and end up in the crib when I can't sleep with him right next to me. The crib looks really nice and the changing table is decent. We're still waiting on his dresser, it is suppose to arrive sometime the middle of this month, so hopefully it will be here before he is. Overall though his room is almost all finished, yay!

We had the breastfeeding class last Thursday, best class of the three we signed up for. The person leading it was knowledgeable, the info seemed relevant and useful to have, and overall it didn't feel like a waste like the other two classes we did. Definitely a nice change. Oh and for once I wasn't the one with the furthest out due date, though I was second furthest out (but there were 2 people there due 1 day before me and 1 due 2 days before me, so I really wasn't that far out at all).

My last OB/GYN appointment went fine, I'm down to weekly appointments, eek we're getting close. I get another Ultrasound on Thursday because they want to check on him and see how big or small he is at this point. I'll be 36 and a half weeks then so we'll see how he looks and such.

Otherwise, we've been working on the house. We put up some shelves this weekend, bought baskets for various places, tried to put up the new closet system and realized that the master closet butts the firewall, which is a pain, since now we need to find cinder block drill bits (fun or something). Dan also put together the baby swing last night and it looks good. So hopefully we're mostly ready for the blob whenever he decides to appear.

In other baby news, we think we're going to try cloth diapers. We both sort of wanted to use them from the beginning but got talked out of them by various relatives. We decided we still want to try and see how they work, even though everyone claims they are a lot more work. So we ordered a couple to see how they work, and figure if they don't we'll go disposable since we haven't made a full investment in cloth diapers yet, until we see how they go.

Other then that not much new going on here, just getting everything ready for the blob to appear.

GD and other updates

Well I took my 3 hour Gestational Diabetes test and didn't pass. Sigh, I was really close to passing to, if my blood sugar had been one lower after 3 hours I would have passed (it needed to be under 140 it was at 140). I got my testing kit and such and it is tons of fun to prick my fingers 4 times a day, really, highlight of the day right now...

In other baby related news, my baby shower was on Saturday. It was nice, had lots of fun, saw a bunch of my relatives and got a bunch of nice gifts for the baby. I love the scrapbook album my aunt made me, it is great.

My Mom came to the house on Sunday (after the shower on Saturday). My sister was here for about 10 minutes too till she had to go to the airport to catch her plane home. It was snowing Sunday so she didn't get to spend much time here. My Mom has been here since Sunday though. Sunday we had plans, but because of the storm we didn't get anything done. Monday we went shopping, bought some IKEA furniture for the living room and dining room and a bunch of baby stuff, that we needed for the blob. We also went out Tuesday and bought a couple of nice carpets to put over the wood floors we just had installed on the first floor. They are really nice, atty picked them up. My Mom also cleaned the house some getting our bedroom in order (we've been procrastinating about it) and worked on the blob's room some though there isn't much that can be done in there until the furniture arrives. She also painted the front hall and the dining room, and has decided our walls suck (which isn't a surprise since they do). She leaves tonight so we'll have a fairly quiet weekend, though we'll be putting together the IKEA stuff and setting up the living room and dining room.

Other then that not much new going on.

Recieved my first shower gift

From my sister. She is coming to the baby shower, but since she has to fly up from Atlanta she shipped the gift to us. It is our travel system (stroller and carseat combo). It is really nice, but really really big. You don't realize how big they are in the store since they are surrounded by a bunch of other ones, but in the dining room it is much more obvious. It is really nice though and we need to check and make sure the carseat fits in my car correctly then we'll throw out the box.

Other then that not much else going on, had my Midwife appointment on Friday and a measuring about a week ahead so just right. the baby is already head down, which is nice, hopefully he won't shift in the next 8 weeks.

We went shopping to IKEA but they were out of the pieces we needed, hopefully they'll have them in soon. Did a bunch of other errands as well. Other then that, big storm suppose to be coming through the area starting this evening, so we'll see how bad it is. Otherwise I live a pretty boring life right now.

Blegh Gestational Diabetes Screening

So I went to take the test yesterday, wasn't expecting 3 vials of blood to be drawn, but I can deal with it. Got the results today, I failed. Blegh that means I have to go back next week for the 3 hour test and 4 blood draws that is just going to make my day (plus the whole fasting from midnight till it is over thing is going to make me sooo happy). Sigh, oh well, hopefully I'll pass the 3 hour one and not have to worry about it again until the next time I end up spawning.

Desmond Kiran Singhal?

Well we think we've decided on the blob's name. We are 99% certain it will be Desmond Kiran, we're still discussing last names though because we really aren't sure what we want to do there. Most likely he'll end up as Singhal, but could end up as a Rosenberg or even something completely new, we just haven't decided yet.

The other thing I need to do is come up with a Hebrew name for him. Fortunately there aren't any relatives he has to be named after, unfortunately this means we need to come up with a Hebrew name for him, without naming him after someone, which would have been easy since then you just use their Hebrew name. *Shrug* that's life I guess, and I'm quite happy that no one has died that he needs to be named after, so all in all finding a Hebrew name for him is a good thing. Now I just need to figure out what it will be.

Doctor's Appointment Yesterday

Saw the midwife yesterday, everything seems to be doing decently. I am measuring a bit big, 29 weeks, rather then the 25 and a half weeks I am, but the midwife wasn't too worried since the baby looked good at the ultrasound earlier this month. Other then that I got the drink I get to drink for the gestational diabetes test in a couple of weeks, the first one is just drink the drink and get your blood drawn in an hour, hopefully I'll pass it so I won't have to do the 3 hour one, which sounds like a lot less fun.

Other then the baby measuring big everything else was good, I go back in 4 weeks and after that I am on a 2 week schedule, which makes the whole baby coming soonish seem even closer.

Second Ultrasound

Had my second Ultrasound Monday. It went well, we saw the blob again, I'll post the pictures later. They got the heart measurements they needed, they couldn't get palate measurements, but we don't have to go back because they may never get them. This is good since going into downtown Baltimore to John Hopkin's Medical sucks. It is just a pain to get too.

Overall, everything looks good though. We didn't get another look to confirm the blob is male, but since the first tech was positive I'm not too worried about it. We may do a 3d/4d ultrasound at the end of January beginning of Feb if we do we'll confirm he's male then, but otherwise we'll stick with the male tag till he appears.

So everything seems good with the baby, we are still waiting on the list of middle names from my in-laws so that we can finalize his name, but at the moment it is most likely to be Desmond somethinghindihere.

Mom was up last weekend

Okay this post should have been up earlier this week as well, but that's life.

Anyways I arrived home on Monday after Thanksgiving, and on Tuesday my Mom headed up to DC for a conference. We didn't actually see her again till Thursday, yep a big whole 3 days of not seeing my Mom, I am so deprived. Anyways on Thursday she and Dan took the train back to the house and picked up K on their way home. I think we went out to Longhorn for dinner (sounds right at least) since I wanted a salad and baked potato. Friday she was here and Dan was at work. She had a conference call in the morning and in the afternoon we went out to Arundal Mills Mall. We looked at baby furniture at Burlington Coat Factory and decided we weren't all that impressed by their stuff. We picked up a few baby outfits as well (shocking isn't it?). Went out to dinner at Melting Pot in the evening which was nice.

Saturday was big shopping day, Mom was up so we could figure out baby room furniture. So we relaxed in the morning again and then headed to my in-laws. Picked them up and all headed to a Baby Specialty shop. We spent awhile there and found a couple of pieces of furniture we liked. Dan really liked one set and it was nice so we decided to go with it. Well sort of. The baby's room is small, one could even say tiny, it is around 9ft by 8ft. So we didn't like the long dresser, it didn't have a lot of storage and it would take up a lot of room. We loved the crib though, so we got the tall 5 drawer dresser with it, which holds more and should fit in the room better. We also got a changing table, which is nice, not sure it is needed, but it will likely be useful so we'll see. The furniture is by Sorelle and the collection is Chantelle, we got it in the antique oak finish which is nice, not too light or too dark.

After choosing and buying the furniture we went to another baby store, and then out to dinner. We then headed back to the in-law's house and hung out for a bit before heading home. Dropped my Mom off at the airport Sunday morning and ran some errands after that.

Overall it was a nice weekend with my Mom and we got the furniture ordered, which is good since it will take 14 weeks or so for it to be delivered which puts us in early March about a month before the blob is due. Apparently baby furniture takes awhile to get. Now I won't see my Mom for a month or so, which isn't a huge deal, either, I'll probably see her twice in January though it may be once in Jan and once in Feb, who knows, they haven't decided on the date of my baby shower yet.

Ultrasound Pictures

Here are the ultrasound pictures we got from the Ultrasound on Friday. There is a pictures of the baby's hand, foot (kicking my uterus) and face. Enjoy!

November 19, 2006

Had the ultrasound on Friday and...

... it's a boy! We were both hoping for a girl, but we're happy with a boy too. Everything looked good, I do need to go back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound though because he won't move so they couldn't measure his heart.

After the appointment we went to Baby's R Us and I bought him some clothes, because how could I resist? We did our registry as well, hopefully we aren't missing too much we'll need.

We decided that we aren't certain about our name choice of Desmond so we now have a list of a couple of names we're debating between. We started with 4, added one and then removed 2. Our list of 5 was Desmond, Griffith, Gareth, Alastair and Sebastian. We are now looking at just Desmond, Griffith and Gareth, I think Gareth is winning right now, but who knows. We want to wait for my father in law to give us a list of Hindu names for middle names, and see what works together best.

Other then that not much new with the blob, other then he is fairly active now and likes to kick a lot. I will post the couple of ultrasound pictures we got once I get around to scanning them.

Felt the baby move!

I've been feeling the baby move on and off for the past few weeks. Nothing more then little butterfly flutters though. This morning though, I really felt it moving, felt like it was playing the drums in there.

Baby Pictures

Well I had my sonogram/ultrasound on Friday. It went well. The tech wasn't able to check my whole uterus, because I apparently have a tilted uterus and it would hurt a lot if she did, so she didn't. Which means there could be another one hiding in there somewhere. At the moment we only have one blob though. And we got pictures!

It mainly looks like a blob, so at the moment I am calling it baby blob. Or just the Blob! The first one is the best defined and you can see arms legs and the head, the rest are more blob like. Anyways if you can't see the whole thing try the link, but here are the pictures in all their glory (fyi, there is a bit of lint and such on them because I forgot to clean off the screen of the scanner first).

General and Baby Stuff

Well not really that much new babywise. I mean, I have my first ultrasound/sonogram on Friday which will be neat, will get to see the baby, though it is too early for learning the sex etc. Other then that not really much else happening babywise.

We did go see my inlaws this weekend on Sunday, which was nice, we had their traditional labor day cookout, lots of food a couple of extra people, nice time talking with them.

Other then that we have had lots of rain, but apparently it is localized heavy rain, since everyone else is having rain but the really light kind, not the nasty heavy kind, so we are apparently the only ones getting the nasty heavy rain. On the plus side we were in drought again so the rain is nice for helping push us out of drought conditions.

We have the contractor coming on either the 21st or 28th to fix the random small stuff in the house that needs doing. Once we actually sign on the home loan we'll be calling a landscaper to fix our yard. Dan still needs to finish the baby's bedroom, but because of the rain didn't do it this weekend. We did however go through bunches of clothes and get rid of about half of them which is good since we weren't wearing them anyways.

Nothing much else going on here, I'm heading to Hartford Ct on Saturday for my aunt's birthday party, she is turning 50 (I'm sure she wants my huge readership of like 3 to know that too). It will be nice, we're using the credits we got from not flying to Disney to fly up there so they aren't being wasted which is always nice. We'll fly back Sunday. Nothing new on the job front for Dan though he is planning on sending his resume into the NSA and possibly FBI cybercrime labs, since both do the type of things he is hoping to do.

Morning Sickness, well Lunchtime Sickness

So I was so proud of myself, 8 and a half weeks and no morning sickness yet, other then the all day nausea, but I can deal with that. So I was responding to an email from my mom telling her how everything was going well...

Silly me, it seems baby was not all that happy with the lunch choice of pita and hummus and decided to show their displeasure by removing the contents of my stomach, boy that was fun. Not! So I have now had my first offical morning sickness with actual throwing up, I hope I can avoid it from now on, but somehow, I am thinking it is only going to get worse...
