Happy 7th Anniversary

Today is our 7th anniversary. At this time 7 years ago the ceremony was over and we were partying. It was actually our second wedding, but it is the official one, the Hindi wedding wasn't official, but was on the 3rd. We'll be celebrating 12 years together come October, wow that seems like a long time.

Here are a couple of pictures from the wedding (I don't have many online anymore, the server I had scanned them on died a couple of years ago).

Pink Hair

My mother in law dyed her hair last weekend sometime, and apparently it didn't work out quite right, she wanted really light blond, instead she ended up with pink hair! So here is my mother in law and her lovely pink hair.

Noah's Graduation

We went up to Connecticut this past weekend to watch Noah Graduate from college (his girlfriend Clare as well). It was a nice time, though Desmond is quite opposed to 7 hour car rides and made sure to let us know it for part of both the ride up and back.

It was nice though, Laura and Miles even came, so we saw all my family. Grandpa was there as well, which was great, I am glad that Desmond gets to meet his great grandfather even if he may not ever remember it.

Noah should be in Maryland now, I need to call him and see if he wants to come to my in-laws for a memorial day cookout. I'll do that tonight or tomorrow, I believe he has a job interview tomorrow, which he will hopefully get. If he gets it he will be working around 10 miles from here so very close, which would be nice.

Nothing much else is going on right now, we had a nice time and saw Noah and Clare graduate, which was great. We did meet up from someone from one of my message boards who has a daughter the same age as Desmond and that was fun as well, I'll try to put up a few pictures in the next few days.

Happy Birthday to me a few days late

Or wow I'm 30? I don't feel grown up!

My birthday was last Wednesday. I turned 30, I don't feel 30, but that doesn't really mean anything. Getting older is also good since the alternative is bad. I had a good birthday, we went on a walk and then out to dinner, it was nice. I got a couple of gifts which I like and my parents sent me flowers. Other then that it was a pretty basic day, unlike this coming Saturday when we will have a party for the small one as he turns 1. Now that makes me feel old. Where did the past year go?

K-line and Desmond

Today was a gorgeous day out and I wanted to get some pictures of K-line and Desmond together so we took them out to the soccer field. We got a couple of very cute pictures of them together, and a bunch more that weren't so great. Here the 5 that I liked out of the 200 we took.

At the Aquarium

So we went to the Aquarium yesterday, it was extremely crowded so we didn't stay long, but Desmond did enjoy the fishies. He also really enjoyed hanging out backwards in the Mei Tai. Here are some pictures of him, in his favorite position (upside down). I'd worry about it, but he flipped up whenever he felt like it, so it just seems to be a position he likes to be in.

Thanksgiving

So Thanksgiving was nice. My whole family was there, we stayed at my parents new lakehouse which is very nice. We all fit, it was a bit crowded, but it will be better when it is finished being remodeled and the first floor can be used as well. We had a nice time, my sister's boyfriend showed up Thursday evening after we ate, so we added one more to the house. It was fun, it was nice seeing my cousins again and hanging out with everyone. It was also really nice that my grandfather could be there, he liked seeing the baby, though he was a bit sad my Grandmother wasn't there since she is bed bound still (oh and she is also so far gone that she isn't really there at all anymore anyways).

Home again

We are back from Disney. I'm working on getting pictures uploaded so you can see some of our trip. I'll also try to do a small trip report here. We had tons of fun. Desmond really had fun trying to eat various character's noses. We did a ton of rides and ate at a bunch of places. It was a nice vacation, we hope to go back in 2009, though if it takes till 2011 or so it won't be a huge deal, would be nice to go back before that though.

Heading out for Disney tomorrow

We are heading out for our drive down to Disney World tomorrow. We plan to get there on Saturday. It should be interesting to drive for 15 hours with a baby in the car. We've broken the drive up into 3, 5 hour or so sections, one a day, so we'll see how it goes. I packed the suitcases last night so our clothes are packed, now we just need to do diaper laundry to pack all the diapers, and pack up all the extra "stuff" we're bringing, cameras, video cameras, books, toys etc. Should be a busy evening getting everything else ready.

I may try to update while we are gone, but probably won't till we get back on the 1st.

Labor Day and such

We had a generally quiet labor day. Saturday we ran some errands, picked up a couple of items we needed. Sunday we went to my in-laws for a cookout, it was nice Desmond got to play with his grandparents a lot. K got to run around and get lots of food. So everyone was happy. Monday I played with Desmond a bunch. Dan painted the doors, actually he did that Saturday and Sunday as well. We now have brown doors and a yellow trim, it looks okay, the yellow is a little bright, but it works (we have to use colors approved by our home owners association, thank you planned community or something). Sunday we also moved a bunch of stuff into the attic including Desmond's swing and bouncy chair, he is growing so fast.

We're pretty sure he had a growth spurt Saturday night as well, since he was definitely taller on Sunday.

Other then that not much happened it was pretty quiet. Nice and semi-relaxing. The rest of the month is going to be busy, next weekend we're in Richmond for my cousin's wedding, my Mom is up the following weekend and then we go to Disney for the last two weekends of the month. So it was nice to have a semi-relaxing weekend.

K-line and other stuff

So we dropped K off overnight last night. Mainly because he was super hyper and it was super cold so he won't be getting a walk and we didn't want to deal with him. Nice thing about having a dog instead of a baby, though that will change in 2 months or so eeek! Took over an hour at the store though, we picked up his various medicines at the Vets and had to wait a bit to get them, then we checked him in fairly quickly. However, we had to go sign up for group training for him (the Intermediate training class) and had to wait for the trainer to see if we could sneak in the full class that starts tomorrow rather then the one that starts in a month and won't be over before the baby was born.

Went out to dinner after that, waitress was eh, fairly slow, food was decent or as decent as Red Lobster ever is. Then went grocery shopping so we now have food in the house which is a good thing. Called my Mom when I got home and talked to her for awhile. Apparently she may be up this weekend, eek guess we need to clear out the guest bedroom some so she can sleep if she actually comes. Looks like my baby shower is confirmed for the 24th of Feb at least at this point in time. Should be nice to see everyone then, will bring the two older gaming machines we've replaced, one for my Grandparents and one for my Aunt's school since we don't need them anyways.

Not much going on with my parents, not that much going on here either other then that fact atty is now an official employee at his job, yay! We are pleased. Yay cheap health insurance again. That's about everything. The blob is good, and kicking and I just passed 30 weeks on Sunday, dang it is starting to feel close now...

Christmas and Such

We went to the in-laws for Christmas and Dan's Grandmother and one of his aunt's were there, which doesn't normally happen. Normally it is just us and my in-laws. It was a nice day, though his Grandmother was a bit weird in her arguments, but it wasn't a huge deal. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and it was nice being together for the day. We'll probably go see my in-laws again sometime in January since we need to get the list from them of Hindi names for the baby's middle name, they have whittled the list down to about 80 names which should give us a decent number to chose from.

Overall, it was a nice day.

Thanksgiving

Okay meant to make this post a week or so ago. Thanksgiving was fun, all my sibs but my sister and brother in law where there. 2 of my cousins, my aunt and uncle and my uncle's sister and her two girls were there too, plus my Grandparents and my Grandmother's aide, and Judy and Gary (close family friends, we've been having Thanksgiving with Judy for 15ish years). It was nice everyone had fun, my Grandmother seemed to be okay with the change in her enviorment. We did eat a bit early since we had to get my Grandparents and the aide back to Atlanta before the aide got off at 8pmish. Overall, it was nice though.

Friday Dan headed home and I headed back to the Lakehouse, it was nice, almost everyone was still there and my sister and brother in law arrived along with his new Wii. The Wii is a lot of fun. We had fun, played games, talked etc. Saturday my Mom and I headed back to Atlanta hung out at my parents house till Monday, was fine. Went out Sunday with Mom, one of my sisters and my cousin, we went to lunch, bought some cute baby clothes and took the two of them to the airport so they could head back, cousin to Connecticut, sister to England.

Overall, it was nice to see everyone again, I'm heading back to Atlanta in January I think because the floors are being done here and I probably shouldn't be around all the dust and stuff that will be stirred up with them putting tile floors in the bathrooms and wood flooring in the first floor.

A nice trip all and all.

This weekend and such

So this weekend we went down to Richmond for my cousin's Christening. It was nice, got to play with the baby some and see a lot of my relatives. Overall had a good time. The Christening went well and everyone had a good time overall.

Monday Dan started his new job. He didn't do much work on Monday (well none really), but he did get to sit through welcome to your new job meetings. Yesterday he didn't have meetings but he still didn't get to do much since his main computer is not set up right at the moment so he can't log in. His laptop works but it is windows based so it doesn't really help him at all except for checking email. So he got to spend yesterday surfing the web mainly. Hopefully he will be able to get his computer working today, probably just in time to leave.

K's Bordatello (or whatever it is called) shot ran out on Saturday, well sort of, day camp requires it every 6 months unlike the vet which requires it once a year, so when I brought him in for daycamp on Monday I learned this. Figured okay we'll get him a vet appointment during the week. Unfortunately the Vet at our petsmart doesn't have an opening till November 7th. Which so isn't happening. Apparently they don't have a Vet working there right now, sigh. So we got him an appointment on Friday at Arundal Mills Mall's Petsmart and he'll be back in camp on Monday. Which will be nice since he's going to be hyper by tomorrow and this weekend will be a pain with him not having his second daycamp session this week.

Otherwise not much else going on.

Mom was visiting

So my mom was here this weekend. I just saw her last weekend at my Aunt's birthday party, but this time she was up to visit Dan and me. We picked her up Friday at the airport, well rental car return area at the airport but still, since she had driven down from her meeting in Delaware. We went to the outlet mall. Grabbed lunch and then went shopping. We bought Dan some new shoes, and new outfits for his business casual work place. It was nice and we found stuff on sale. We got him some slacks and shirts, though he will probably need a few more shirts eventually. We looked for a trench coat for Dan because he is going to be taking the subway and walking to work as part of his commute so a trench coat will come in handy on nasty days. We couldn't find one though.

We bought me a few maternity clothes, one of the reasons she was visiting, and we bought the blob a bunch of neutral clothes since we don't know if it is a boy or girl yet, I'm betting girl, my mom is betting boy, Dan is trying not to get involved in the arguement. We then stopped at Target and picked up more maternity clothes so I now have a decent sized maternity wardrobe for when I need it, and stopped and picked up dinner. Lots of shopping, but we did get a bunch of stuff which is nice.

Saturday we stopped by Home Depot to see what they had for closet organizers because we are planning to redo the baby's, K-line's and our closets. We also looked at bathroom pieces since we are planning to redo the upstairs bathroom as well. We priced a few things and continued on our journey. We stopped for lunch and then headed to Baby's R Us. We looked at all the stuff they had, decided we liked the feel of one of the Graco stroller/travel systems better then one of the other ones. Looked at cribs. Bought more baby clothes (shocking as that may be), and bought the comforter/baby set for bedding. We couldn't find 3 packages of the border we want for the baby's room though. We found one, but not 3. So we figured we would order it online, silly thought, you can only get the border in the store. We also went to Ikea to check out the various things they have because we are changing around our entertainment centers, planning to get rid of both of them and get a simpler style for them, plus we need display somethings for all the collectables. We saw a few decent things that we may pick up later.

We then headed to Target to check out if they had any closet organizers (they didn't) and home for a bit. After relaxing for awhile we went out to Melting Pot, which was as good as always though our waiter was really really slow. Overall a nice night though.

We then dropped my Mom off at the airport this morning and headed over to the Mall. We found a trenchcoat at Macy's that we liked so we put a hold on it and checked a few other stores. We didn't see anything else we liked as much so we headed back to Macy's, we picked up a casual sportsjacket as well for Dan to wear over his stuff in the office. We then bought both pieces and had lunch.

After lunch was more Home Depot, but we forgot to measure so we weren't sure what sizes we needed for the dryer vent or the closet top things. So we just headed home and relaxed. Overall a nice, busy weekend with my Mom.

And to think I get to see her again in two weekends for my cousin's Christening.

New Job for Dan

So Dan has been on and off looking for a new job for the past 2 months or so. He hasn't been extremely active, but he has been semi-looking because he is ready for a change. His current job isn't challenging him anymore and he isn't really enjoying it all that much. So yesterday he had an interview. He came home and said it had gone well, he liked the guy interviewing him (who would be his boss) and the interviewer said he would have a decission by Monday. The one major downside is it is in downtown DC, which means an hour and a half commute both ways more or less, which sucks.

So today Dan gets a call seems they liked him a lot. In fact it seems they have made a verbal offer and want to have a written offer to him by Friday and him starting work there by the 2nd of October. Okay now that is a wee bit faster then we were really expecting an answer. We were figuring we would discuss it a few days and then make a decission. Especially because the commute is nasty. Instead we have about 3 hours to decide. So he has decided yes, it was what we were likely to decide anyways. The raise he is getting will be really nice, he likes his new boss and the group he will be in, and it is new and interesting work for him. So it looks like next month Dan will be going into a new office to work and enjoying his new job and commute.

We are expecting!

Okay so I've known this for a few weeks now. Like 4, and I've shared the news with a lot of people, though not everyone. But I figured I would make it truely official and post it in my blog. Dan and I are expecting our first in April. Around April 8th if my dates are right. This is Easter, which is amusing when you realize I was born on Easter, though not April 8th. So my first doctor's appointment is tomorrow, with the midwife and hopefully we'll have a bit more information then, but at the moment I am 8 weeks pregnant and enjoying the wonderful feel of nausea all day long (it is such joy).

and did you know it is really hard to get a good picture of a positive pregnancy test, this was the best I got out of like 10 different pictures.

Happy 5th Aniversery to Dan and Me!

So at this time 5 years ago, I was in the middle of getting ready for my second wedding cerimony, the Jewish Cerimony, on the 3rd was the Hindu wedding where Dan and I got to play with fire.

Me in my Sari for the Hindu wedding, my inlaws brought it back from India

Dan all Dressed up for the Hindu wedding

Today was the offical wedding though, since it is the one the state recognized. We were married in Richmond Virginia. Nope neither of us lived in Richmond, and neither of our parents lived there either. However, 80% of my mom's family lives in Richmond and since all of my Dad's side of the family had to travel for the wedding anyways, we decided it was easiest to have it in Richmond. So at this time 5 years ago, I was getting ready for the wedding in the hot outside August sun. Where all the groomsmen were in gorgeous hot wool tuxes (sorry guys didn't realize they were wool or that it would be 90+ degrees).

Anyways it has been 5 years married now, and we're still together and happy. So Happy Aniversery to us! We're going to the Melting Pot tonight to celebrate, and we're going to Disney on the 14th as our 5th Aniversery trip since that is where we went on our honeymoon.

New Job for Dan?

So Dan is sort of looking to change positions. He likes where he is now, but the salary is a bit lacking, especially for the job he is doing and the area we are in. So I found him a couple of listings on Craig's list (and he found a couple more), he worked last week some on his resume and cover letter and sent them out Sunday evening for one of the listings. So last night (Monday afternoon) he got an email responce back asking him in for an interview. So it looks like they like his resume, this means we need to get his jacket dry cleaned and find his nice slacks so he has something to wear for the interview.

He is probably going to send out a few more resume's to a couple of the other places we found, but it was nice to see him get an interview within a day. The place that he has the interview at is about 5 minutes from the house, it is in our town and in our zip code as well (our town has 3 zip codes) so it is really close, which is nice. Hopefully it will work out and he'll get a nice raise. He won't mind staying where he is now, but he isn't getting paid anywhere near enough to make that a viable option at the moment, so hopefully we'll find something for him that he'll enjoy doing and he'll get a nice raise out of it too.

On my job front, my job working for his company is going fine. I am also going to be tutoring my Math Student starting at the end of August, which will be nice since that normally brings in between $20 and 40 a week, sometimes as much as 60, plus I really enjoy tutoring my tutoree she is a great person to hang out with and teach math too.

I'm still looking for a decent online University program as well, though I'm not looking to hard I should probably pick up the pace a bit, but I'm not really motivated at the moment. I would like to get my Bachlor's so I'll probably start looking again in a few week since when I find something I'm not starting before January anyways.

Other then that not much else is going on here, we leave in under a month now for our trip to Disney for our 5th aniversery. That will be nice, going to see my cousin and her new husband probably as well as a friend who lives in the area, should definately be entertaining.

Let it snow, let it snow, oh it snowed!

So it snowed on Saturday for those of you who don't have any contact with the outside world and didn't hear about the snow storm on the East Coast of the US. We got about 18 inches of snow, weee finally snow I've been waiting all winter for good snow so I can get pictures of K-Line in it. Anyways I took lots of pictures and have posted some online here for the landscapes and here for the K-Line pictures.

Click on the comments button to see the full pictures since the main page cuts a lot of them off part way.

Now I'll share a couple of my favorites though you can see all of them at either link. First up is a picture of the tree that fell over on our neightbor's roof, it doesn't appear to have done any major damage, but I'm glad it didn't effect us. I have two different pictures of it, one is looking up it and one is a view of it on the neighbor's house.

Here is one of the football field where we took K to play in the snow

Now some of K

This is my favorite of K jumping through the snow

Here are Dan and K on our way home

Snow Shark!

and last but not least, K in a hole in the snow, the snow was deeper then this but he had packed some of it down before he got in his nice hole.

K and his fun day at daycamp!

So K goes to daycamp (8 hours of playing with other dogs) on Mondays and Thursdays since they are a nice break and still wear him out for most of the week (plus we can't really afford more then two days a week). Anyways that is background. So he went to daycamp today. There is another dog there another Jack Bailey, who is there when K is there sometimes. Bailey likes to attack K and has bitten him and given him scrapes and bruises and cuts before. At the begining K won't fight back, but after the last time when he got a semi nasty cut he has started to fight back.

So Bailey started in on K again today and K fought back. The girls working there couldn't break them up with water in the face (K tends to ignore water). So apparently from what I can tell one of the girls grabbed the dogs to seperate them and K bite her hard enough to break skin. So she got to go to the hospital. He then bit another of the girls on her knee and left a bruise.

So he gets to take a break from daycamp for the week. While they were fighting Bailey bit K hard enough to break his skin as well. So he has a huge nasty mark on the back of his neck as well.

Okay sucks, but dealable, of course if a dog bites hard enough that it pierces skin and the person has to go to the hospital animal control gets involved, oh joy. So we may be having animal control contact us, yay.

And K can't go back to next week, which won't be a huge deal, except for the major hyperness this weekend. Except we are going to Les Mis on Friday and will be out of the house from like 9am till midnight, so I had planned on putting him in daycamp/overnight care Friday so we didn't have to worry about him in the house alone all day and evening. Which just sucks overall that I can't do that now.

I am not overly worried about it, other then we are thinking about scheduling K's daycamp for days Bailey isn't there (Bailey has been kicked out for the day numerous times for fighting with K this is K's first time), just so we don't have to worry about it.

30 days has September

April, June and November all the rest have 31 except for old grandma who rides a bicycle.

How Dan learned the 30 days has September poem from his mother. I kind of enjoy it, it is quirky and offbeat even if Febuary got lost somewhere.

Parent Overload

Well today was family day. My parents were in town because my mom had some kind of dinner thing in DC this evening. So we were supose to meet them around 10am in DC, maybe go to the Smithsonian or something. We ended up just meeting them for lunch.

We went to a sport bar called Tommy Joes (maybe?), because we were also meeting family friends (good friends of my parents) and the husband of the group wanted to watch the Michigan football game. So we head down for the 12 o'clock lunch. After 15 minutes we finally find somewhere to park, yay closed streets and parking garages.

We get to the restaurant and the family friends are there but my parents aren't yet. My parents arrive shortly afterwards. We had a nice lunch, though it was fairly loud with the football game on all 8 or 10 tv screens in the place. Talked to everyone and spent about 2 hours there.

We head out and say bye to my parents. Then we head back to our car. We are only about 15 minutes from my inlaws so we decided to stop by and visit them.

We had been talking about visiting them tomorrow, but the traffic is supose to be horrible tomorrow. So we drive over, and surprise them, since they weren't expecting anyone.

We hang out with them from about 2:30 till 9:30 talk and have dinner. It was nice, and we got all caught up. My father in law is retiring at the end of the month, and they are going to Paris for 12 days in November which sounds like a lot of fun.

Over all it was a nice day, but dang there were a lot of parents seen and talked too!

I have a new Second Cousin

Erin Elizabeth (Ellie) Mee was born August 27th at 1 am, she weighs 7 pounds 1 ounce. Ellie is the first great-grandchild for my grandmother. And the first grandchild for my Mom's older sister. My mom is one of 8 and she is second oldest.

Ellie was born to Emily and Daniel Mee. Daniel is my cousin he is the younger of the two kids in his family, Ellie was named after his older sister and my cousin Erin. Daniel is only 9 months older then me, in fact he is 9 days (I believe) younger then Dan (hubby).

So congratulations on being born Erin Elizabeth Mee I hope you have had a good first 36 hours.

On other family news my Uncle Tim and Aunt Jenna are pregnant with their first child. The baby is due in March, which is a great month to be born if I do say so myself (okay so it is my birth month). Hopefully Jenna will have an easy pregnancy and delivery and I will in a few months get to meet a new cousin.

All these births and expected births kind of make me hope to one day have one of my own. However, I am waiting till I finish getting my bachlors degree. So I guess it will be another 2 and a half to 3 years for me.

My Mom is taking my sisters on a cruise

And I don't get to go. I'm really jealous. Apparently my Mom decided to take my two younger sisters on a cruise around the Bahamas. Of course they decided to go the week that University starts for me. So I don't get to go along. I told her I didn't mind missing the first week of class, but she didn't believe me. So while I'm learning about ancient civilizations, writing proofs, and learning about micro and macro economics my mom and sisters are going to be sunning themselves on a big boat as it winds around the Bahamas.

On the plus side she wants to do a girl only vacation again next year and she promised to make sure it occured while none of us are in school etc, so hopefully I'll get to at least go to that.
