Climbing the Tree
My in-laws have a bunch of trees, and one of the ones in their front yard is just about the right height for mister monkey to climb. Here are a couple of the pictures I took of him in the tree (he was spotted by my in-laws at all times).

Splashing in the Bird Bath
Desmond loves water. He loves splashing in water, in fact the main reason we still don't let him in the kitchen most of the time is because he will head right to K-line's water bowl and splash in it. He'll also try to eat K-line's food, but he is more likely to splash in his water. Anyways when we were at my in-laws Desmond played with thier bird bath, and got quite wet, the bird bath got quite a bit emptier as well.

Memorial Day Pictures
I've been meaning to get these pictures up for awhile, but well Desmond likes to turn off my computer where I download and edit my photos for the web, so it has taken a bit to get them ready. Anyways these are pictures from last Sunday, we went over my in-laws and had a nice Barbecue with them, and Noah and Clare. Noah and Clare took some of these pictures I think, since they were enjoying playing with the DSLR. Anyways here are some of the pictures from the day.
Here is Clare

Here are Noah and Desmond

Here is me holding the boy in his favorite position, upside down.

Here are a couple of Dan and Desmond shucking corn

Here is Desmond playing with Dadi's (my mother in law) Iced Tea

And here is Desmond patting his head while standing on Dada's (my father in law) lap.

Here is K-line

Strawberry Farm
This morning we took Desmond out to the pick your own farm. It was the opening of their season. They just had strawberries available today, but he was quite happy with that. He loved walking down the aisles with the strawberries and picking them off the bush to eat. He had a lot of fun, and we ended up picking 11 pounds of strawberries. Hopefully that will last us for awhile. Anyways here are a lot of pictures from our adventure. I've split the pictures into numerous posts so it isn't so overwhelming. The first picture here is Dan showing Desmond a strawberry. The rest in this post are Desmond playing and eating the first strawberry he got.

Desmond in the Suitcase
So last weekend we went to Connecticut for Noah and Clare's graduation. One of the suitcases was full of his diapers and we put it in the living room when we got home since it still had some clean diapers, anyways Desmond has enjoyed climbing in and out of it all week long. Here are some pictures of him doing so.

Desmond eating Tacos
So I have a bunch of new pictures of Desmond to put up, I'll start with the oldest and work forward. These are from earlier this week when we ate Tacos. We gave Desmond his own and he ate quite a bit of it, as well as eating part of our hard shells.

Noah's Graduation
We went up to Connecticut this past weekend to watch Noah Graduate from college (his girlfriend Clare as well). It was a nice time, though Desmond is quite opposed to 7 hour car rides and made sure to let us know it for part of both the ride up and back.
It was nice though, Laura and Miles even came, so we saw all my family. Grandpa was there as well, which was great, I am glad that Desmond gets to meet his great grandfather even if he may not ever remember it.
Noah should be in Maryland now, I need to call him and see if he wants to come to my in-laws for a memorial day cookout. I'll do that tonight or tomorrow, I believe he has a job interview tomorrow, which he will hopefully get. If he gets it he will be working around 10 miles from here so very close, which would be nice.
Nothing much else is going on right now, we had a nice time and saw Noah and Clare graduate, which was great. We did meet up from someone from one of my message boards who has a daughter the same age as Desmond and that was fun as well, I'll try to put up a few pictures in the next few days.

Words
Desmond talks a lot at 13 months and has a bunch of words, he is also talking in two and three word phrases once or twice a day now. I just want to list the words he knows so I have a list if I need it, I am sure I will forget some in this list, but that's okay I'll just add them later. I always feel bad listing things like this because he is a bit ahead of the milestones and it just seems like bragging even when it isn't. Anyways here is a lit of the main words Desmond knows and says, including words he signs.
He signs:
more
done
eat
He says:
Here
That
Dog/Doggie
Kuta (dog in hindi)

Haircut
So I have been talking about getting my hair cut for over a month now. It was long and a pain and getting really tanglely and Desmond loved pulling. So on Saturday I finally got around to getting it done, I got it cut short. I've included some pictures the first picture is from January as a comparison, my hair was 2 to 3 inches longer before I got it cut and poofier and what not, but it is the only semi recent picture of me I could find where you can see my hair. I also posted to pictures of the new hair cut, it is short, and I am still getting use to it. I like it though it is so nice and light.

Baby Milestone: First ER visit
So this afternoon I decided to let Desmond play in the bathtub for a bit, since he likes to play with his toys in the bubbles. So he was happily playing something like the picture below.

Anyways as he was standing up he slipped and hit his eye on the edge of his toy or the tub, I figured he was fine and was playing with him some when I noticed his eye was bleeding. Eek! So we quickly got him out of the tub, and dried off so I could look at his eye. DH got home right around then and we called the doctor. It was a little bloodly and cut, but we couldn't see anything in the eye, so we figured it was probably just a surface injury out the eye. The service said they would have the doctor call us back. My in-laws were over so Desmond was playing with them happily, so we figured he was doing okay. We realized it had been about an hour so we called back the service and talked to the doctor, she suggested heading to the ER just to check and make he hadn't broken his eye bone. So we all packed up and had a family field trip to the ER.
Once we got the ER we were quickly checked in and moved back to pediatrics, much faster then with an adult, nice benefit of being 13 months I guess. The nurse came in and checked out his eye, and said the doctor would be with us shortly. The doctor checked him out and decided he didn't need an x-ray and it was just a cut. So we all happily headed to dinner. So today's adventure was a nice visit to the ER with Desmond because of his eye. Below are some of the pictures of him with the nurse looking at his eye and a close up of his eye.

The Zoo
We took Desmond to the Zoo about 2 weeks ago now. We all had lots of fun and Desmond really enjoyed seeing the animals. This is the first visit we've taken where he stayed awake for the whole trip and saw all the animals. Here are a couple of pictures from our adventure.
Here he and Dan are looking at the Sloth Bear:

Here they are looking at one of the hippos:

Here they are looking at a Tiger:

Here are a couple of silly Desmond faces:

Climbing Climbing Climbing
Desmond loves to climb so sometimes we find him in the most interesting places, like on top of the dining room table. Or in this case on top of the table next to the chair, sitting by Dan's monitor.

C is for Chocolate
So I will give Desmond some of my desert sometimes, and he really loves chocolate. Especially brownies. He feels that eating is a full body experience and these pictures show of his joy of eating his piece of brownie.

Portrait of the artist as a toddler
Desmond likes to draw, he loves using his crayons to make pictures. We also tried finger paints and paint brushes, which he isn't as sure about. Anyways here are a bunch of pictures of him painting and drawing and some pictures of his works. Painting is a full body experience and involves both touch and tasting the paints. Which is why we don't paint that often yet. For those wondering I am pretty sure he is a lefty, he tends to do most things with his left hand.

Bath Time!
So Desmond loves the water, however he has found that he can climb out of the bath tub and that is even more fun then playing in the water. Here are a few pictures of the little escape artist as he escapes from taking a bath.

Pictures
I have a bunch of pictures of the munchkin to post, but I haven't taken them off the camera card yet, there are some from the zoo, some from the milk festival and some of him eating a brownie. I will try to get them up tomorrow or Monday depending on how I feel with the hives and all.

New Bed for Desmond
So we're thinking about making Desmond up his own big boy room, with his own big boy bed. Because honestly as much as I love him sleeping with us, we really want to get him to bed around 9 and to be able to have him sleep alone till we come to bed around midnight, and he just isn't safe in our bed doing so (plus he wakes if I get up, but that's another story). So we're thinking about making K-line's room into Desmond's big boy room.
So we've been looking at furniture for it. I think we found a bunk bed we like for it, we have looked at a bunch of places, the one we like is a pretty mapleish color and has a full bed on bottom (which is something we want) and a twin for the top bunk. You can get storage drawers for the space between the bed and the floor and the dresser is nice as well. We still need to check our IKEA, but I think we've mostly made up our mind on getting the one we've already seen. Hopefully he will be able to sleep in it all alone for a few hours every night so we can get some time without Desmond, it would be kind of nice to have a few hours for just me and Dan.
We figure a bed will work better then a crib, because he hates sleeping in his crib and won't do it, and with his own grown up bed, I can nurse him down in it and get up rather then having to try to move him and wake him up.

Hives
So I bet you think this post is going to be about Desmond. Nope it is all about me. This morning I woke up with hives. It was actually kind of fun to watch them break out all over my arms and legs. When I woke up I had one or two spots, within 20 minutes my arms and legs were covered.
I have had hives before, I was 15 at the time and missed 2+ weeks of school. They never did figure out what caused them, they finally decided I was allergic to a virus. No clue what is causing them this time either. Anyways we went out and bought Benadryl since while I might have every medicine under the sun needed for a one year old, we don't always have the adult version of said medicine. After two pills and an hour the hives were basically gone. So now I am just waiting to see if they are going to come back since the medicine has just about worn off. My legs and arms are starting to itch again, so I am guessing yes.
I figured if they are still here on Monday I'll go to the doctor, since there really isn't much they can do about hives anyways other then run blood tests.
Anyways that was my excitement for the day.
